Day 1 (March, 3)
Orientation meeting with Festival Staff

FESTIVAL WELCOME CEREMONY with all participants, Caen City Hall Officials, American Consulate representative, Festival crew at Caen - Normandy memorial center for History and Peace
-  Hotel dinner

 

Day 2 (March 4) Normandy - FESTIVAL Day

-  Sample itinerary for groups:


Group 1

 

8:00 – Arrive at the venue - Director checks in at the Registration Center (provide Festival Staff with 2 copies of each musical selection with stage set up form for instrumental groups)

Staff Member greets the students and guides them to the warm up room (set up with chairs and stands). Parents will be directed to the performing hall.

 

8:30 – 8:55 AM - Group 1 warms up for 25 minutes, then is guided by NIMF Staff to the stage for performance (an announcement of the group and a professional recording provided).

 

9:00 – 9:20 AM - Group 1 performs 3 musical selections for one Choral Clinician or Instrumental Clinician. (Clinicians will write comments during performance)

 

9:20 – 10:00 AM – Group 1 is moved to a clinic room where the Clinician works with the group to give helpful instructions for the director regarding ways to improve the fundamental performance skills and to raise the group to the next level.

 

10:00 – Group 1 is escorted to the area where they have left their belongings and/or instrument cases, packs up and leaves for day excursion to Bayeux, Honfleur or the American Cemetery at the Landing Beaches.

Group 2

 

8:30 – Arrive at the venue etc. (or comes earlier to listen to Group 1 or stays to listen to other groups)

 

9:00 – 9:25 AM - Group 2 warms up for 25 minutes, then is guided by NIMF Staff to the stage for performance.

 

9:30 – 9:50 AM - Group 2 performs 3 musical selections for one Choral Clinician or Instrumental Clinician.

 

9:50 – 10:30 AM – Group 2 is moved to a clinic room where the Clinician works with the group to give helpful instructions for the director regarding ways to improve the fundamental performance skills and to raise the group to the next level.

 

10:30 AM – Group 2 is escorted to the area where they have left their belongings and/or instrument cases, packs up and leaves for day excursion to Bayeux, Honfleur or the American Cemetery at the Landing Beaches.

Day of excursions in the area around Caen

 

GRAND CONCERT in the afternoon at the main performing hall
