American Classic has an ongoing commitment to provide structured, well-staffed events that instruct, inspire and improve those who participate.

Who can Participate

The format for the Normandy International Music Festival is a Clinic and Concert format. Since the festival is a non-competitive event, we welcome all high school and university ensembles (Wind Band, String or Full Orchestra, Jazz Ensembles, and Choral groups of all kinds - Mixed, Women's and Men's Choirs.) Adult community bands, choirs and orchestras as well as church choirs are also invited to participate.

Since the festival is a non-competitive event organized in a master class/concert format, all types of high school and university ensembles may participate, including performers in Wind Band, String or Full Orchestra, Jazz Ensembles and Mixed, Women's and/or Men's Choirs. Community and Church groups are also welcome. An audition recording will be required for participation in the festival-sponsored performances. Each conductor is expected to select music appropriate for their particular group's age and level of skill.

The Clinic

There will be two Instrumental Clinicians (one Orchestra and one Wind Band), as well as two Choral Clinicians. Each performing group will have a thirty-minute warm up slot, a thirty minute performing slot for instrumental groups (twenty minutes for choral groups), followed by a thirty-minute clinic/workshop by the two Clinicians. The master class format of the clinics is not just a source of motivation and enlightenment for the performers; it is of great benefit to the directors because it provides the insight and procedures to elevate the group's performance to a higher level.

Free performance recordings

Each and every director receives a complimentary professional CD recording of their group's performance. A professional recording of each groups performance will be sent to all listed participants on the night of the event via Dropbox.
